Job summary

HG Recruitment is seeking an HGV Class 1 Shunter in Bridgwater to safely manoeuvre trailers within the yard, position them at loading bays, and support overall transport operations. This ongoing temporary assignment offers a 42‑hour weekly contract with 8–10‑hour shifts, overtime opportunities, and night shift premium pay.

You must hold a valid Class 1 (C+E) licence, CPC and Digital Tachograph Card, be physically fit, reliable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with the transport and

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class 1 (C+E) licence and CPC/Digital Tachograph Card.
• Physically fit with the ability to unload roll cages or goods.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work to targets.
• Good communication with transport, warehouse and gatehouse teams.

Responsibilities

• Safely manoeuvre and position trailers within the yard, loading bays and parking areas.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects or damage promptly.
• Liaise with warehouse, transport and gatehouse teams for efficient trailer movements.
• Ensure trailers are correctly coupled, uncoupled and secured.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and allocations.
• Comply with site health & safety rules, PPE and traffic plans.
