Job summary

HG Recruitment is seeking an HGV Class 1 Shunter in Bridgwater to safely manoeuvre trailers within the yard, position them at loading bays, and support overall transport operations. This ongoing temporary assignment offers a 42‑hour weekly contract with 8–10‑hour shifts, overtime opportunities, and night shift premium pay.

Qualifications

Must hold a valid Class 1 (C+E) licence and CPC/Digital Tachograph Card.
Physically fit with the ability to unload roll cages or goods.
Reliable, punctual and able to work to targets.
Good communication with transport, warehouse and gatehouse teams.

Responsibilities

Safely manoeuvre and position trailers within the yard, loading bays and parking areas.
Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects or damage promptly.
Liaise with warehouse, transport and gatehouse teams for efficient trailer movements.
Ensure trailers are correctly coupled, uncoupled and secured.
Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and allocations.
Comply with site health & safety rules, PPE and traffic plans.
