Job summary

John Crane, part of Smiths Group, is launching a dedicated night-shift testing operation in Slough. We are seeking an experienced Test Technician to support a fixed-term contract, focusing on preparing, setting up, and executing product testing activities to support NPD and RCA investigations.

This hands-on role involves maintaining equipment readiness, capturing accurate test data, and adhering to safety standards within a collaborative engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in manufacturing, mechanical assembly or product testing environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with practical assembly and equipment preparation.
• Experience recording, analysing and reporting test data.
• Commitment to safe systems of work and risk awareness.
• Effective communication and collaboration across teams.
• Ability to work in a shift-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test rigs and equipment ahead of planned testing activities.
• Install seals and related hardware.
• Carry out pre-test checks and static tests.
• Document test evidence and ensure records are maintained.
• Support RCA investigations and NPD/test programmes.
