Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a motivated Test and Assembly Technician to support the manufacture and testing of highly engineered products used across the Energy and Process Industries. You will assemble, test, and validate dry gas seal products while developing skills for more complex builds and testing activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical assembly, testing, manufacturing, or engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test dry gas seals in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and established procedures.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and assembly documentation to ensure accurate product build.
• Safely and effectively use a range of tools, instruments, and testing equipment to complete assembly and testing activities.
• Perform rotor balancing and other technical assembly processes as required.
• Read and monitor instrumentation during testing, accurately recording results and identifying any deviations from specifications.
• Immediately elevate any variations, non-conformances, or quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Prepare, organise, and maintain assembly and test documentation, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
• Install and set up seals within designated test rigs and operate equipment in accordance with approved test plans and procedures.
• Support Test Engineers with the setup and execution of more complex and critical product testing activities.
• Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and workmanship in all tasks performed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at improving efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with company standards and health and safety requirements.
• Deliver work efficiently and productively while meeting operational targets and performance expectations.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across manufacturing, engineering, quality, and testing functions.
• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as required to support the team's objectives and overall business success.
