Job summary

Sussex Estates and Facilities LLP (SEF) in partnership with OCS Group UK is recruiting an Academic Porter/Janitor for the University of Sussex campus in Brighton. The role focuses on portering and janitorial tasks within the Student Centre, plus reception support during events.

Responsibilities include delivering high-quality service, reporting maintenance and safety issues, handling deliveries and furniture movement, and maintaining security protocols.

Qualifications

• Right to Work in the UK and willingness to undertake a DBS check.
• Strong communication skills to interact with students, staff and visitors.
• Customer-focused attitude with proactive problem solving.
• Team player who supports colleagues and contributes to meetings with solutions.
• Basic IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office for reporting and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Provide portering and janitorial services in the Student Centre.
• Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff and visitors, including reception duties.
• Report maintenance and safety issues and assist with inspections.
• Handle deliveries and movement of furniture/equipment for events.
• Maintain security and safety, including unlocking premises and assisting with fire alarms.
