Job summary

Mackle Food Company in Northern Ireland is seeking an experienced Night Shift Production Manager to lead the night team, ensure safety, and drive output. This key leadership role requires hands-on management of shift operations and continuous improvement across the factory floor.

You will own shift performance, manage staffing, coordinate extrusion and flavouring, and develop the supervisory team to deliver targets while maintaining GMP and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading large teams in a production environment.
• Strong people management and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to manage production performance, resources and priorities.
• Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset; food manufacturing experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for night shift output, ensuring targets, efficiencies and OEE are met.
• Ensure Health, Safety, GMP and hygiene standards, with audit readiness.
• Oversee extrusion and flavouring operations during evening/night shifts; maintain product flow.
• Manage shift staffing, labour allocation and holiday cover for effective line balancing.
• Lead and develop the supervisory team, driving performance and accountability.
• Plan and coordinate standardised changeovers to minimise downtime and waste.
• Drive shift-level continuous improvement and proactive problem solving across supervisors and line leaders.
• Coordinate night shift hygiene technicians to maintain factory cleanliness and food safety.

Job description

Mackle Food Company is seeking an experienced Night Shift Production Manager to join our production team.

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for night shift performance, production output, people management and maintaining the highest standards across the factory floor. The successful candidate will take ownership of shift operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently while driving continuous improvement across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Shift Performance & Delivery: Take full responsibility for night shift output, ensuring production targets, efficiencies and OEE objectives are safely achieved.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure consistent adherence to Health & Safety, GMP, hygiene and food safety standards, maintaining a high level of audit readiness at all times.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Oversee and coordinate Extrusion and Flavouring operations during evening and night shifts, ensuring technical issues are addressed quickly and product flow is maintained.
• Resource & Labour Management: Manage shift staffing, labour allocation and holiday cover to ensure effective line balancing and efficient use of resources.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach and develop the supervisory team, encouraging proactive performance management, accountability and continuous development.
• Changeover Excellence: Plan and coordinate effective, standardised changeovers to minimise downtime, reduce waste and maximise production efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive shift-level improvement initiatives focused on eliminating waste, improving OEE and embedding a proactive problem-solving culture across supervisors and line leaders.
• Factory Hygiene: Coordinate night shift hygiene technicians to ensure excellent standards of factory cleanliness, hygiene and food safety are consistently maintained.
  

Experience Required

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading large teams within a production environment.
• Strong people management and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to manage production performance, resources and competing priorities.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.Experience within food manufacturing would be advantageous.
