Job summary

Sonic Healthcare UK is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant for the night shift in the Sample Reception at Watford General Hospital. This fixed-term role runs for six months and forms part of a new pathology services programme.

The MLA will assist biomedical scientists and enter requests into pathology software, contributing to accurate specimen handling and routine testing in a busy diagnostic environment.

Qualifications

• Routine preparation and tests conducted under supervision.
• Ability to accurately enter patient requests into pathology systems.
• Experience supporting a busy sample reception in a clinical lab.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preparation and tests under supervision.
• Enter patient requests into WinPath/Helix pathology systems.
• Assist in handling and distribution of incoming/outgoing goods, equipment, specimens, and reagents.
• Support laboratory staff with clerical tasks and Helpdesk duties.
• Ensure adherence to sample handling procedures and quality standards.
