Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK at Whatley Quarry, Somerset, is seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor to lead a skilled engineering team during the night shift, driving safety, reliability and performance. You will take ownership of all maintenance activities, coordinating production support and contractors to uphold the highest standards.

This role offers a path to influence site strategy, improve equipment availability and contribute to world-class operations at one of the UK’s major quarry

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lead teams, manage contractors and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Electrical engineering experience.
• NVQ Level 4 in SHE Quarry Operations.
• HNC/HND in Engineering or Maintenance Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead all maintenance activities during the night shift.
• Ensure safe systems of work, permits and risk assessments are followed.
• Manage and coordinate engineering and maintenance contractors on site.
• Support and develop the on-site TPM team.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma and 5S.
• Maximise plant availability and improve Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
• Improve MTBF and reduce MTTR across plant assets.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, legislation and environmental requirements.
• Collaborate with production teams to achieve targets and high performance.
