Job summary

Ford and Slater is seeking an HGV Technician to join our night shift team at the Birtley dealership. You will service and maintain a wide range of trucks, perform safety inspections, and prepare vehicles for MOT tests on the night schedule.

We offer £20-£22 per hour, overtime at premium rates, extensive DAF training, driver licence training after qualifying, and a benefits package including 22 days holidays rising to 25, pension, life insurance, cycle to work and more.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Apprenticeship or training programme; Level 3 qualification in CV maintenance and repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Able to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate job cards and service records.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Fault Diagnostics and repairs to manufacturer procedures.
• Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
• Complete all paperwork accurately including service records.
