Job summary

Noble Foods Limited, home of the Happy Egg Co., is seeking a hands-on Engineering Lead for our Leicester site. You will manage a team on night shifts, maintaining and improving our automated production environment and ensuring safety and efficiency targets are met.

Responsibilities include coordinating preventative maintenance, training staff, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across operations.

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled engineer with Electrical and/or Mechanical qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3+).
• Previous experience in managing a team.
• Recognised apprenticeship (highly desirable).
• Experience in an automated production environment (Preferred).
• Experience in FMCG, food, or brewery sectors (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• A commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Health & Safety guidelines and maintain audit-ready site.
• Organise and manage the day-to-activities of a team of engineers on shift.
• Take ownership of planned preventive maintenance tasks and ensure completion.
• Ensure training signoffs are up to date for team members.
• Plan shift resources to cover holidays/absences.
• Work with Engineering Manager to improve engineering practices.
• Respond to breakdowns and communicate downtime and actions.
• Guide production staff to identify improvements to OEE and standards.
• Test, install and commission new equipment before go-live times.
• Collaborate with teams to foster a positive shift culture.
• Attend team huddles to identify risks and improvements in GMP/OEE.
• Complete required training including IOSH and Level 3 food hygiene.
