Job summary

DPD Doncaster is seeking a highly capable Class 1 Shunter to manage nocturnal yard operations and maintain the integrity of a fast-paced, high-speed supply chain in Doncaster.

You will be the primary conductor of yard movements, ensuring precise maneuvers, rigorous safety checks, and seamless handoffs between warehouse and fleet drivers on a 01:00–09:45 schedule. This full-time role offers steady mornings, overtime, and growth opportunities within a tech-led logistics group.

Qualifications

• A Class 1 LGV Licence (C+ E) and a current Driver CPC.
• Thrives in fast-paced environments with a proactive attitude.
• Physically fit and ready to solve problems before they happen.
• Comfortable with basic digital logging (no paper mountains).

Responsibilities

• Precision maneuvering: safely navigate trailers and tug units in the yard with high precision.
• Systems & compliance: log trailer transitions and conduct pre-use inspections per Tier 1 standards.
• Operational performance: coordinate with warehouse staff to keep loading bays and schedules running smoothly.
• Dynamic agility: support inventory tasks or short-haul runs during volume fluctuations.
