Job summary

The Grand Hotel Birmingham is seeking a Night Porter / Night Receptionist to support overnight guest experiences. You’ll welcome guests, handle late arrivals, and assist with requests while ensuring a safe, secure environment.

Shifts run 8.00pm–6.30am or 10.00pm–8.00am, four nights per week, with weekday and weekend coverage. Benefits include service charge, staff discounts, meals on duty, and access to wellbeing and employee advantages.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience, ideally within hospitality or a guest-facing environment.
• A warm, friendly and approachable manner, with clear and confident communication skills.
• The ability to remain calm, organised and solutions-focused while managing a variety of guest requests.
• Good IT skills; experience using Opera PMS would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
• Flexibility to work overnight shifts across weekdays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Providing a warm, professional welcome and checking guests in and out efficiently.
• Responding confidently to guest enquiries and offering recommendations about the hotel and local area.
• Resolving guest requests and concerns with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail.
• Delivering overnight room service and supporting other departments with late-night operations and functions.
• Helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for our guests, colleagues and hotel throughout the night.
