Job summary

The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle is seeking a Night Porter to support overnight operations, ensuring safety, security and a high standard of presentation throughout Skibo Castle.

You will assist the Night Supervisor and manage the switchboard during late shifts, while delivering discreet guest service and coordinating with Food & Beverage, Housekeeping and Maintenance teams.

• Discretion when handling guest information and Club details.

Responsibilities

• Support the Night Supervisor and Night Manager in safe, secure overnight operations.
• Carry out regular security and fire safety checks in line with Club procedures.
• Provide warm, professional, discreet service to members and guests.
• Take responsibility for the switchboard after the late Receptionist finishes.
• Maintain the Castle's presentation and ambience overnight to high standards.
• Complete routine checks of guest and staff areas and report issues.
• Support the Transport team with staff transport.
• Assist with overnight administrative procedures and reconciliations.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers about issues.
• Participate in Club training and assist with onboarding new colleagues.
• Undertake other duties to support smooth Club operations.

The Night Porter plays an important role in supporting the smooth, safe and secure operation of Skibo Castle throughout the night.

About the Role

• Support the Night Supervisor and Night Manager with the safe, secure and smooth running of the Club throughout the night.
• Carry out regular security and fire safety checks in line with Club procedures, remaining alert and attentive at all times.
• Provide a warm, professional and discreet service to members and guests, responding to requests and supporting departments including Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Transport.
• Take responsibility for the switchboard once the late Receptionist has finished, handling calls and enquiries efficiently and professionally.
• Maintain the presentation and ambience of the Castle overnight, ensuring public areas, fireplaces, lighting and guest facilities are presented to Skibo's high standards.
• Complete routine checks of guest areas, external areas, vehicles and buggies, reporting any issues to the relevant department.
• Support the Transport team with the staff transport.
• Complete general cleaning and tidying duties in staff and office areas as required.
• Assist with overnight financial and administrative procedures, including reconciliations, POS reports and accounting spreadsheets, reporting any discrepancies to the relevant manager.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers, ensuring any guest, maintenance, housekeeping or operational issues are reported promptly.
• Participate in Club training and support the development of new colleagues.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the smooth running of the Club.

• Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work well with colleagues and managers across the Club.
• A flexible and positive approach, with a willingness to support different departments and assist wherever needed.
• Good numeracy and administrative skills, with confidence working with figures, systems and overnight financial procedures.
• A willingness to learn and develop, taking an active approach to Club training and supporting colleagues.
• A professional and polished manner, reflecting the unique standards and character of Skibo.
• The flexibility and commitment to work a 7 nights on / 7 nights off shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays as required.
