Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd in Hereford is seeking Night Hygiene Operatives to join the Hygiene team. The role covers maintaining hygiene standards across the Hereford site, working nights 22:00-06:00, with full training provided and no prior experience required.

You will follow food safety rules, assist with containment and cleaning tasks, and report to the Team Leader as part of a busy production environment. We offer a competitive hourly rate (£13.67) with overtime, on-site parking, a subsidised staff

Responsibilities

• Achieve hygiene standards and targets within the Hygiene team.
• Adhere to health and safety at all times and follow food safety rules.
• Follow tasks in line with food safety rules and instructions from Team Leader/Management.
• Manual handling of plant and equipment and isolation of plant and machinery.
• Meet housekeeping and hygiene standards individually and as part of a team.
• Comply with food safety and HSE guidelines.

About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will play an instrumental part in achieving the required hygiene standards with the Hygiene team for Avara Foods. You will adhere to health and safety at all times and follow all tasks in line with food safety rules.

• Understanding and attainment of both individual and department targets.
• Awareness of the usage of material and energy sources.
• Co-operate in the continuous improvement of quality, safety and productivity standards.
• Manual handling of plant and equipment
• Isolation of plant and machinery
• To meet housekeeping and hygiene standards individually and as part of a team.
• Compliance with food safety and HSE guidelines
• To carry out instructions as given to you by your Team Leader/Management

What you'll need to be successful

• Good level of English and basic numeracy skills

• Experience within a production/manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided

A little about our Hereford site:

The Hereford plant is our largest site and processes chicken products across two factory facilities, Grandstand Road and Yazor Road. Grandstand handles processing, whole bird production and portioning, with Yazor responsible for portioning and added value. Across the whole site approximately 1,500 people are employed and it processes 1.9m birds per week.
