Job summary

Avara Foods Limited is recruiting Night Hygiene Operatives for the Hereford site in Hereford, Herefordshire. You will join the Hygiene team to meet hygiene standards with full training provided and no prior experience required.

The role offers £13.67 per hour plus a £1.65 supplement, with overtime and guaranteed hours. Shifts run 22:00–06:00, Mon–Fri, with free on-site parking and a subsidised staff canteen.

Qualifications

• Good level of English and basic numeracy.
• Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
• Experience in production/manufacturing is desirable but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hygiene standards in accordance with health and safety rules.
• Follow food safety rules and operating procedures.
• Assist in achieving department targets and efficient use of materials and energy.
• Assist with isolation of plant and machinery and manual handling.
• Carry out housekeeping and cleaning tasks to required standards.
• Support continuous improvement of quality, safety and productivity.

About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will play an instrumental part in achieving the required hygiene standards with the Hygiene team for Avara Foods. You will adhere to health and safety at all times and follow all tasks in line with food safety rules.

• Understanding and attainment of both individual and department targets.
• Awareness of the usage of material and energy sources.
• Co-operate in the continuous improvement of quality, safety and productivity standards.
• Manual handling of plant and equipment
• Isolation of plant and machinery
• To meet housekeeping and hygiene standards individually and as part of a team.
• Compliance with food safety and HSE guidelines
• To carry out instructions as given to you by your Team Leader/Management

What you'll need to be successful

• Good level of English and basic numeracy skills
• The ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively
• Good attention to detail and a flexible attitude to tasks
• Experience within a production/manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided

A little about our Hereford site:

The Hereford plant is our largest site and processes chicken products across two factory facilities, Grandstand Road and Yazor Road. Grandstand handles processing, whole bird production and portioning, with Yazor responsible for portioning and added value. Across the whole site approximately 1,500 people are employed and it processes 1.9m birds per week.
