Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a part-time Clinical Support Worker for the Hospital at Night Team at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The role involves out-of-hours clinical and non-clinical support across acute specialties with a high degree of autonomy.

The successful candidate will perform venepuncture, cannulation and ECGs, support patient care, monitor conditions and ensure safe, coordinated night-time operations.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification.
• Healthcare Support Worker training or SVQ in relevant healthcare setting.
• Proficient in venepuncture, cannulation and ECG recording.
• Experience delivering direct patient care in a healthcare environment.
• Ability to recognise deteriorating patients and respond to concerns.
• Strong verbal and written communication within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work night shifts and flexible patterns.

Responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, and patient observations.
• Support assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care across specialties.
• Monitor patient conditions and escalate concerns to the Hospital at Night Team.
• Assist with specimen collection, diagnostic testing and safe transport of equipment, meds and records.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation including observation charts and fluids balance.
• Provide practical and clinical support to nursing, medical and allied health staff.
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and colleagues to ensure safe, coordinated care.
