Job summary

Birkbeck University of London is seeking a Campus Experience and Security Officer (Night) to provide a visible security presence, carry out building lock/unlock procedures, patrol campus sites, monitor CCTV and respond to incidents.

Working with the Duty Manager and security team, you will manage access requests, contractor management, and maintain accurate records of patrols and incidents, while delivering excellent customer service in a busy, welcoming Central London campus.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in a customer-facing security, safety or front-of-house role.
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a busy environment.
• Experience responding to incidents and following established procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with a diverse range of people.
• Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications and electronic security systems.
• The ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.
• A current SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV licence, or the willingness to obtain and maintain the required licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence, lock/unlock procedures, and patrol campus sites.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms and other security systems and respond to incidents.
• Assist with access requests and contractor management, and maintain records of incidents and patrols.
• Support emergency responses and safeguard campus community; contribute to a safe and welcoming environment.
