Job summary

Birkbeck University of London is seeking a Campus Experience and Security Officer (Day) to deliver a professional concierge-style service across campus. You will be the first point of contact for students, staff and visitors, handling reception operations, visitor management, ID/pass issuance and access control.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in a customer-facing security/front-of-house role.
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a busy environment.
• Experience responding to incidents and following established procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications and electronic security systems.
• The ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.
• A current SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV licence, or the willingness to obtain and maintain the required licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide reception operations and visitor management.
• Issue ID cards and passes; manage access control.
• Assist with safeguarding and campus support.
• Conduct regular campus patrols and monitor security systems.
• Respond to incidents and assist with emergency procedures.
