Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Basildon is seeking a Waste Porter to support the hospital’s waste portering service. You will handle clinical, domestic, and recycling waste across the site in line with Trust policies and procedures, ensuring safe and compliant disposal.

The role requires good communication and organisational skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and flexibility to cover holidays and sickness. Driving license is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in a service environment.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet time scales.

Responsibilities

• Provide refuse collection for clinical, domestic, glass, paper and recycling waste from points trust-wide.
• Collect yellow/orange clinical waste and other waste to the compactors observing policy.
• Collect cardboard from dedicated holds and compact.
• Collect glass and bottles to waste compound for disposal.
• Collect paper/confidential waste and computer waste in bin to waste compound, maintaining confidentiality.
• Cover annual holidays and sickness for the department.
