Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Imaging Support Worker to join the Diagnostic Imaging team. You will assist radiographers and radiologists, prepare rooms and equipment, and help maintain smooth day-to-day department operations while providing patient-centred care.

The role combines hands-on patient care with administrative and technical duties, including RIS/PACS usage and equipment support. A flexible, compassionate approach is essential for success.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at minimum grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Completion of a Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards this).
• Experience and ability to perform peripheral cannulation.
• Healthcare/Science related Level 3 qualification.
• Level 3 qualification (A-Levels/BTEC/T Levels and Level 3 NVQ’s).

Responsibilities

• Undertake initial patient identification and screening checks.
• Assist with patient transfers, positioning and manual handling.
• Support vulnerable patients and those with additional needs.
• Prepare examination rooms and set up equipment for procedures.
• Assist practitioners with aseptic and clean techniques.
• Check emergency equipment availability and functionality.
• Clear and decontaminate equipment after procedures.
• Move and prepare mobile imaging equipment, ultrasound machines, X-ray units and MRI coils.
• Support students, trainees and new staff.
