Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Radiology Department Assistant to support imaging procedures, liaise with clinical staff, and assist with patient care. You will rotate across sections as needed, handle equipment, and contribute to a positive patient experience while upholding Trust policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Essential Level 2/GCSEs or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Experience in a care or service environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support during diagnostic imaging examinations.
• Communicate with radiographic, medical and nursing staff during examinations.
• Ensure infection control standards and mandatory training are completed.
• Assist in safe patient care and welfare, including monitoring.
• Prepare sterile equipment and handle body fluids for imaging procedures.
• Apply aseptic technique and assist with contrast preparation as needed.
• Carry out front-line patient care during imaging procedures.
• Initiate basic life support when required and assist with patient movement.
• Rotate to care group sections to maintain essential services as needed.
• Maintain high ethical and professional standards at work.
• Manage front-line conflicts with patients or carers appropriately.
• Report adverse incidents to senior staff as needed.
• Ensure a clean and hygienic working environment.
