Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is recruiting for Bank Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) to support acute wards in the NHS Trust. The role is a zero-hours bank post with flexible shifts and training provided.

Eligibility requires nursing or related healthcare study with acute inpatient experience; candidates may be invited for an interview with the Practice Development and Education team for shortlisting. Uniform and induction are provided.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc Nursing (any specialisation) and Midwifery students who have completed at least one full acute inpatient care placement within an NHS trust.
• University Healthcare students with significant inpatient experience (6 months+ in last 12 months) as Healthcare Assistant/Healthcare Support Worker in an NHS acute care Trust.
• City and Guilds NVQ Level 3/ T levels/ A levels in Care/Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or significant equivalent experience.
• Some previous experience in a nursing/Care Assistant role.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record baseline observations for patients.
• Escalate deterioration to registered staff.
• Provide personal care, continence assistance and meal-time support.
• Clean equipment and ward areas as required.
• Procure and handle clinical samples/swabs.
