Job summary

SkyBlue Solutions is recruiting for an NG General Operative (NG Person substation) to support a National Grid project in Ipswich. The role involves general labouring, coordinating with site teams, and assisting with safety and compliance on a live substation site.

Hours are 07:30–18:00, duration approximately 2 months, at a rate of £18.35 per hour (PAYE). Applicants should hold NG Person Substation and other required safety qualifications and be prepared for on-site duties.

• EUSR Utility SHEA Power certification required.
• Manual Handling competency.
• Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
• Plant & Vehicle Marshal (PVM) certification.
• Slinger Signaller qualification.
• COSHH Awareness.
• Fire Safety Awareness.

Responsibilities

• Supporting site teams in a live National Grid substation environment.
• Assisting with general labouring and operational tasks for project delivery.
• Coordinating with supervisors, engineers and plant operators.
• Assisting with safe lifting and material handling where required.
• Maintaining clean, organised and compliant work areas.
• Adhering to National Grid and site safety standards.
• Carrying out tasks to support ongoing construction activities.

Location: Ipswich IP3 9BF
Rate: 18.35 per hour - PAYE only
Hours: 07:30 - 18:00

A leading power and utilities contractor is currently seeking an NG General Operative (NG Person substation) to support works on a National Grid project in Ipswich.

Duties include:

• Supporting site teams working within a live National Grid substation environment

• Assisting with general labouring and operational tasks to support project delivery
• Coordinating with supervisors, engineers, and plant operators
• Assisting with safe lifting and material handling operations when required
• Maintaining clean, organised, and compliant work areas
• Adhering to National Grid and site safety standards at all times
• Carrying out tasks as directed to support ongoing construction activities
