Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution is seeking an Operator based at Ty Coch Plant Centre. The role focuses on assembling package substations and related equipment in a depot setting, with emphasis on quality, safety, and independent work. A relevant electrical background and driving licence are important.

The ideal candidate will work independently, maintain high standards, and may benefit from HVG and forklift experience. DBS checks and UK right-to-work are part of the process.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assemble package substations and associated equipment to required quality standards.
• Refurbish, decommission and safely scrap plant and equipment as required.
• Load, unload and move equipment around the depot and site safely.
• Assist with the preparation, marshalling and dispatch of completed assemblies.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently in accordance with procedures.

Job Introduction

An opportunity is available for an Operator based at Ty Coch Plant Centre.

As an Operator, you will be involved primarily in the assembly of package substations and associated equipment. This position would suit a practical and motivated individual, ideally with experience in an electrical environment

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities

• Assemble package substations and associated equipment to required quality standards.
• Refurbish, decommission and safely scrap plant and equipment as required
• Load, unload and move equipment around the depot and site safely
• Assist with the preparation, marshalling and dispatch of completed assemblies
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment
• Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures

This is a depot-based position requiring a methodical and self-motivated individual who can work independently. Given the nature of the role, a strong focus on quality, reliability and attention to detail is essential.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience in a similar environment and an understanding of electrical equipment or an electrical background would be beneficial.
• The ability to work independently and maintain high standards and safety standards
• A full driving licence is essential and HVG would be highly beneficial
• Experience operating a forklift truck would be advantageous
