Job summary

Morrisons is seeking a product development specialist to drive all development activity within our chilled food categories. You will own the end-to-end EPD and NPD processes from concept to launch at the Winsford site, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers and retail colleagues.

You'll analyse category data, benchmark against the market and run factory trials, ensuring regulatory documentation is meticulous.

• Experience in New Product Development (NPD) is essential.

More about the role

We're looking for someone to come and support all product development activity within the various categories of our chilled food range. You will ensure the Existing Product Development (EPD) and New Product Development (NPD) end to end processes are completed on time and in full.

You’ll be part of the full Concept to Launch Process. Analysing category data to define areas of opportunity for Morrisons, keeping abreast of the market to ensure Myton products are best in class. Carrying out regular benchmarking sessions to ensure targets are being adhered to.

The role is mainly based out of one of our biggest chilled manufacturing sites (Winsford) where we are launching over 130 products a year including steaks, mince, meatballs, burgers, kababs, sliced and diced meats. There will be a need to attend meetings at the Morrisons Head office ( in Bradford) and visit some of the other sites and suppliers. There may also occasionally be a requirement to work the occasional day over the weekends in peak season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the Process: You'll lead the development journey from concept to launch, making sure every step is delivered with care
• Communicate Like a Pro: Keep everyone in the loop, from retail teams to suppliers, making sure all stakeholders are up to speed on the progress of each project
• Stay on Track: You'll manage timelines and tasks like a seasoned project manager, keeping everything on schedule
• Be Detail-Oriented: Ensure all documentation is spot-on for regulatory compliance and consistency
• Collaborate with wider Teams: Work closely with wider colleagues to turn their product briefs into reality, ensuring we meet and exceed customer expectations
• Work with Suppliers: Source new raw materials, collaborate with suppliers, and handle the paperwork to keep projects moving forward
• Get Creative: You'll formulate recipes and prepare samples that bring product briefs to life, showcasing your culinary flair
• Factory Involvement: Coordinate factory trials and oversee the first production runs to ensure top-notch quality and consistency
• Benchmark and Taste: Organise tasting sessions and benchmarking to assess product quality, and create action plans for improvements
• Evaluate Success: Post launch, you'll review product performance and make any tweaks to keep our products at the top of their game
