Job summary

Arch Insurance (UK) Limited in Glasgow is seeking a Commercial Combined Underwriter to deliver efficient case underwriting for brokers. You will support regional strategy and work towards income and profit objectives with on-site broker development.

The role requires at least 2 years’ underwriting experience, strong broker relationships and the ability to collaborate across functions to achieve goals. ACII progression and a full driving license are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate Property & Casualty New Business within risk appetite and authority.

• Build strong relationships with key brokers to enhance Arch’s local presence.
• Demonstrate negotiation skills to aid conversion and broker relations.
• Share technical and market intelligence with the Regional Manager and team.
• Collaborate with claims and surveyor teams as needed.

The Position We are looking for a Commercial Combined Underwriter to join the team here at Arch in Glasgow. This role will achieve income and profit objectives through the delivery of an efficient case underwriting service to brokers through regular on-site broker development, supporting the technical management of the regional account in conjunction with the regional strategy, financial plan and personal objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Generate Property & Casualty New Business whilst writing within risk selection, appetite and underwriting authority
• Adherence to the 4 Call Process to maximise opportunities arising
• Achieve Bottom Line, Top Line and Expense targets by managing and operating to the Key Performance Indicators of the region
• Enhance Arch's standing and presence locally by establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships with key directors and staff at the Region's most important brokers
• Display strong negotiation skills that aid conversion and relationships with our key brokers
• Contribute to the technical knowledge of the company by feeding back technical and commercial market intelligence to the Regional Manager and wider team
• Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, especially with the claims and surveyor teams, when required

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 2 years' experience in underwriting
• New Business Underwriting preferred

Education

• Minimum 3 Scottish Highers / A Level standard
• Professional Certification - progress towards ACII preferred
• Full clean driving license
