Greentech Renewables designs, surveys and installs solar, battery storage and air source heat pumps. All of it in house, from the first drawing to switch-on. That's deliberate: it means we control the quality the whole way through, and the customer deals with one team rather than being passed between three. Everything we install is certified through MCS.
There are six of us, working across the North West and beyond, and we're in a growth phase. That's why this role exists. We're after somebody who wants to build something with us, not just fill a seat — because we're small, the person who takes this on will genuinely shape how it runs.
About us
Greentech Renewables designs, surveys and installs solar, battery storage and air source heat pumps.
The role
You are the first person a potential customer speaks to. Someone gets in touch about solar, a battery or a heat pump, and it lands with you: you find out what they're after, work out who's serious and who's just looking, and make sure the ones worth chasing actually get chased rather than sitting in a queue.
You also own every quote after it leaves us. Quotes don't sell themselves — they get followed up, or they go quiet and the customer buys from whoever rang them back. Nothing sits and lingers on your watch.
Once a job is sold, you keep it moving — booking the survey, sorting the scaffolding, keeping the customer in the loop until the installers turn up. You'll also keep our work diary accurate, which is what stops jobs colliding.
You won't be making operational decisions. The Team Leader plans the work and sets the rules you book within, which means you can concentrate on customers and the pipeline rather than juggling the install teams.
Customers work, so some of them can only talk in the evening or at a weekend. There will be times you need to work round that — the odd evening, the occasional Saturday. It isn't every week, but it's part of the job and we'd rather say so now than surprise you later.
What you'll be doing New enquiries and opportunities
- Making first contact with every new enquiry, quickly — a lead that goes cold is a lead lost.
- Finding out what the customer actually needs, and pinning down exactly where the property is.
- Getting the full details down first time — address and postcode, property type, what's already there — so the surveyor isn't turning up blind and the design team have what they need.
- Picking up what matters on each enquiry — what's prompted their interest, whether they're getting other quotes, their timescale — and writing it down so nothing gets lost later.
- Prioritising the pipeline so the hot ones get followed up first, and flagging them to the team.
- Keeping everyone updated on where each opportunity stands, and making sure quotes go out when they're promised.
- Following up every quote that goes out, to a set rhythm — never leaving one to linger. If a customer has gone quiet, you find out why: they've gone elsewhere, they're still thinking, or they've a question nobody answered. All three are worth knowing, and only one of them is a no.
- Keeping a live view of every quote that's out and where it stands, so nothing drops off the end quietly.
- Keeping our records honest: statuses up to date, dead enquiries closed off, so we can all see what's real and what isn't.
- Reporting the numbers each week — enquiries in, quotes out, how many are still open, what converted, and which sources are actually producing work worth having.
- Building the process for handling enquiries as you learn the job — starting simple, writing it down as it proves itself.
Once a job is sold
- Supporting the design team on quotes and next steps.
- Telling the customer what happens next and when, so nobody is left wondering.
- Booking and scheduling the survey with the customer and surveyor.
- Booking scaffolding, and sorting access and timings with the customer and the scaffold contractor.
- Keeping the customer updated all the way through to the install starting, including once the DNO approval comes through.
- Booking work into the diary and keeping it complete and accurate, within the booking rules the Team Leader sets.
- Rebooking when dates move — weather, DNO delays, scaffolding, illness. Ringing the customer, explaining it straight, and getting a new date agreed.
- Being the customer's point of contact up to installation: taking the call when they've a question or a worry, sorting what you can and passing on what you can't.
- Handing the job over cleanly to our Compliance & Completions Coordinator once the install is done, so the customer never falls down the gap between the two of you.
Learning the products
- Getting to know solar, battery storage and air source heat pumps well enough to answer a customer's straightforward questions with confidence, and to turn an enquiry into a proper qualified lead. You don't need this on day one — you do need to want to learn it.
- Picking up the basics of the funding and grant routes we work with, so you can answer the obvious questions and know when to pass something on.
What we're looking for Essential
- Admin experience in construction or the trades.
- Strong IT and systems skills — you'll be living in a diary, a mailbox and our job records.
- Genuinely good with people. Somebody is about to spend serious money on their home, and they need to trust whoever picks the phone up. That comes from listening properly and being straight with them, not from being pushy — we don't want a salesy operator, we want somebody customers believe.
- Drive. You'd be joining a business in a growth phase, and the pace comes with that.
- Organised enough that things don’t get dropped, and honest enough to say when something has.
- Persistent for the right reason — you follow up because the customer deserves an answer, not because you’re chasing a number.
- Willing and quick to learn — both the products and a job that’s still taking shape.
- Able to work the occasional evening or Saturday when a customer can’t do anything else.
Desirable
- Some experience handling sales enquiries or leads.
- Any exposure to renewables, energy efficiency or MCS-certified work.
