Job summary

University of Bristol is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join our team investigating the neurobiological basis memory and the role played by neuromodulator transmitter systems.

The project combines electrophysiology and 2-photon imaging in rodent brain slices to measure neuromodulation and its impact on synaptic plasticity, aiming to inform a theoretical framework for memory updating.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent research experience in neuroscience.
  • Experience with patch clamp electrophysiology.
  • Experience with rodent hippocampal tissue and imaging.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments in rodent brain slices using electrophysiology and 2-photon microscopy.
  • Stimulate and measure synaptic responses with optogenetics and glutamate uncaging.
  • Analyse large datasets with appropriate analytical methods.
  • Present data at meetings and to the research group.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Update stakeholders on progress and options for discussion.
  • Develop research ideas, write papers and explore independent funding options.
