Job summary

North Bristol NHS is seeking a motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Neuropathology Laboratory, contributing to diagnostic neuropathology and muscle pathology services for Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and external organisations.

The post-holder will rotate through biopsy and autopsy histology, immunohistochemistry, and enzyme histochemistry, working a 9:00am to 5:15pm pattern with occasional flexibility. Full training provided to develop competencies and skills.

Qualifications

• To participate in reception, preparation, documentation and disposal of all specimens.
• Maintain health and safety standards and accurate records.
• Rotate through sections and support junior staff training.

Responsibilities

• Process, embed, section and stain tissue specimens.
• Perform specialist techniques on surgical, autopsy and muscle biopsy samples.
• Support urgent intraoperative diagnostic services and ensure high quality standards.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and participate in quality management.
