Job summary

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust in Welwyn seeks a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant for a part-time fixed-term post on 23 hours per week, Wed and Thu, with day or night shifts. You will support nurses and allied teams in a Neurological Rehabilitation unit, delivering compassionate care and recording observations.

The role offers progression from Band 2 to Band 3 CSW competencies after completing the Care Certificate and relevant training, with interview slated for late Oct/early Nov 2026.

Qualifications

• NHS experience in hospital/inpatient setting.
• Understanding of personal care needs.
• Understanding of Health and Safety at work.
• Understanding of rehabilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake personal care duties including bathing, toileting, dressing, supporting with meals, and assisting patients with activities of daily living.
• Ensure the patient’s bed space is clean, tidy, safe, and that essential items are within easy reach.
• Deliver care in line with Trust policies, infection prevention, and health and safety guidelines, maintaining concentration throughout the day with occasional interruptions.
• Contribute to patient record keeping by recording basic clinical information such as fluid balance, nutrition, height, weight, and other relevant observations. Support and encourage patient independence and self-care.
• Ensure equipment and stores are well maintained and report any faulty items. Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
