I'm supporting a leading quantitative technology firm that's looking to appoint a Network Team Lead to take ownership of the performance, reliability and operational maturity of its network environment.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position for someone who can combine deep network engineering expertise with a strong focus on automation, observability and operational excellence.

The role

You’ll lead the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of network infrastructure across datacentre, WAN and campus environments.

Alongside providing technical leadership to the network function, you’ll drive a more automated and proactive approach to network operations — reducing manual intervention, improving observability and ensuring the environment remains highly available, resilient and secure.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the operational performance, stability and availability of the network environment
  • Provide technical leadership across network operations and incident response
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of critical network incidents
  • Drive automation using Python, Ansible and Infrastructure as Code
  • Improve network monitoring, telemetry, alerting and observability
  • Develop operational tooling, runbooks and incident response processes
  • Work closely with Network Security and Infrastructure Engineering teams
  • Support network architecture, upgrades, capacity planning and performance optimisation
  • Identify recurring issues and drive long-term technical improvements
What we’re looking for
  • Strong hands-on network engineering experience within enterprise or large-scale environments
  • Experience across datacentre, WAN and campus networking
  • Strong Cisco or Arista experience
  • Excellent understanding of L2/L3 networking, BGP and EVPN-VXLAN
  • Experience with network security infrastructure including firewalls, load balancers and proxies
  • Experience with Python, Ansible or similar automation tooling
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD
  • Experience with network observability and monitoring
  • Strong incident management and troubleshooting capability
  • Previous experience leading engineers, projects or a technical function
What’s on offer
  • Highly competitive salary + discretionary annual bonus

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Network Engineer or existing Network Lead who wants to take ownership of a sophisticated network environment while helping shape the way network engineering is delivered through automation, observability and modern infrastructure practices.
