Job summary

BT Group in Sheffield is seeking a Network Security Specialist to provide expert support on complex security operations for UK secure contracts. You will utilise network security, firewall and load balancing skillsets while building strong relationships with customers and vendors in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires leadership in security practices, mentoring peers, and delivering secure, scalable network solutions across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of CCNP +/ Equal Certification plus the below Firewall Engineering Skillset.
• Fortinet, Cisco ASA, ISE & FirePower, Palo Alto, CheckPoint, ZScaler, F5 Load balancer required.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on Agile / ITIL processes and be a decision maker within the security team.
• Develop peers and colleagues within the team through mentoring and leadership providing trustworthy honest feedback.
• Produce and support polices, functions and configuration builds to allow implementation of customer projects.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering colleagues; facilitate workshops and design sprints.

About the role

This role exists to provide specialist technical support on complex network security operations for our UK secure contracts. Utilising Network Security, Firewall and load balancing skillsets. Building intermate working relationships and trust through effective communication and meeting expectation and deadlines is key. Liaising with customer representatives or vendors and directing other support staff where appropriate will form part of the role.

What you’ll be doing

• One key thing that all of our engineers have in common is a desire to develop/deliver brilliant, industry redefining platforms as well as their own skills.
• Provide leadership on Agile / ITIL processes and be a decision maker within the security team; Advising those who will be working directly with yourself on best practices and able to support from a 3rd Line Lead perspective.
• Develop peers and colleagues within the team through mentoring and leadership providing trustworthy honest feedback.

Essential Skills / Experience

Minimum of CCNP +/ Equal Certification plus the below Firewall Engineering Skillset:

• Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP & OSI seven-layer model and how data networks are structured and operate.
• Knowledge of the best engineering practices and continuous delivery
• Always Maintain appropriate levels of clearance (MPS, NPPV3 & SC clearances at time of writing)
• Design user journeys, service maps, documentation, user flows and wireframes
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering colleagues. Facilitate workshops and design sprints.
• Skilled in building strong relationships across multiple teams
