Job summary

BT Group in the United Kingdom is recruiting for a security-focused software/systems engineer within BT Business. The role requires DV security clearance and on-site work across Ipswich, Cheltenham, London or Manchester.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About the role

The role is in BT’s “Business” sub-division. You will use your engineering knowledge and experience to achieve world-class communication, data-analysis and/or data-processing solutions for BT Business and its customers. You will have a strong focus on secure working practices.

This job role can be based in Ipswich, Cheltenham, London or Manchester. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

What you’ll be doing
  1. Adhere to area-specific security requirements.
  2. Carry out software-development- and/or systems-engineering-focused work to support BT Business' technical services offered to its internal and external customers, comprising any or all of the following activities for a wide range of products, capabilities, and platforms:
  • Requirements capture and/or refinement, in conjunction with customer representatives.
  • Design work to underpin the successful implementation of agreed requirements.
  • Implementation of designs and technical decisions.
  • Test and review solutions to ensure adherence with requirements.
  • Perform system-monitoring and housekeeping tasks, diagnosing and repairing software defects where required.
