Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. seeks an on-site Network Engineer to support Data Centre modernisation and BAU activities across the network infrastructure. You will install and configure Cisco Catalyst switches, ASA firewalls and Check Point devices, and document changes for future reference.

You will troubleshoot moves, new installs, and ongoing network operations, ensuring routing protocols are understood and applied. A CCNP is preferred, with demonstrated data centre experience.

Qualifications

• Cisco CCNP minimum.
• Past experience as a Network Engineer with data centre moves/installations.
• Experience in high- and low-level design documentation.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
• VXLAN experience is a plus.
• Experience deploying Cisco hardware (Catalyst/Nexus) in enterprise environments.
• Experience deploying Cisco ASA and Check Point firewalls.

Responsibilities

• On-site project support for Data Centre modernisation and BAU network tasks.
• Install and configure hardware (Cisco Catalyst, ASA, Check Point) in new racks and reconfigure existing gear.
• Resolve network issues from moves/new installs; document fixes and configurations.
• Consider routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) during changes; provide diagrams as needed.
• Oversee DMZ/Internet link installations and align with server team requirements.
• Patch/cable data centre infrastructure; maintain tidy cabling and share documentation.
• Provide day-to-day IT infrastructure support and guidance; liaison with third parties.

Job description

THE ROLE:

To support our in-house Network Team with a mix of project Support for our Data Centre Modernisation and also BAU Support across our organisations network infrastructure.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

To be on site Project Support to our in-house Team for a Data Centre modernisation, focusing on:

• Installation of hardware into new racks to include Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco ASA Firewalls, Checkpoint Firewalls.
• Creating and applying configuration to new devices, (and reconfiguring existing hardware) to include Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco ASA Firewalls, Checkpoint Firewalls.
• Working within the Data Centre to be able to resolve Network issues arising from moves / new installs, recommend fixes and create and apply required configuration.
• Ensuring existing routing protocols to include OSPF, EIGRP and BGP are considered and understood as changes are made, and providing configuration and high and low-level diagrams as required.
• Overseeing the installation of a newly commissioned DMZ and Internet link, and being able to assist in design, configuration and installation of associated hardware, whilst integrating existing server Team requirements.
• Cabling and patching across the new Data Centre infrastructure, accepting responsibility that all cabling is to a tidy, high standard and that documentation is created and shared appropriately.

To support our in-house Network Team for day-to-day BAU activities to include:

• Manage, deploy and maintain the organisations network infrastructure, including all voice, data, LAN and WAN infrastructure, switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers and wireless access points. Ensuring they remain available in line with the agreed SLAs.
• Implement and manage network security measures, to include Checkpoint and Cisco Firewalls, Cloud Security, Site to Site VPNs and remote access solutions. Implement and maintain security best practices for cloud networking, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality and availability.
• Providing technical support and guidance to the IT support team. Resolving IT infrastructure-related incidents, service requests and problems in a timely and efficient manner in line with Business requirements. Liaising with 3rd Parties where appropriate.
• Maintaining IT infrastructure support technical documentation

• Undertaking IT infrastructure-related problem diagnosis, implementing problem resolution or prevention measures as appropriate. This is to include audit, monitoring, capacity management, planning, security, patching etc.
• Provide timely communication to users on the status of their service requests and incidents.

WHO YOU ARE:

Professional certifications, Cisco CCNP as a minimum.

Past experience as a Network Engineer that has a proven track record of Data Centre moves / installations.

Experience of high and low-level design documentation.

In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP and BGP.

Experience of VXLAN an advantage.

Configuration and deployment of Cisco hardware (Catalyst and Nexus) in an enterprise setting

Configuration and deployment of Cisco ASA firewall appliances

Configuration and deployment of Checkpoint firewall appliances

Configuration, deployment and management of wireless devices and an understanding of wireless communications.

Proficiency in Network administration, monitoring and troubleshooting mainly using Cisco systems, including Cisco ISE and Catalyst Centre.
