Job summary

Derbyshire Constabulary is seeking a Network Engineer to develop, implement and maintain the force network, delivering reliable, secure and innovative solutions that support daily operations for colleagues across Derbyshire. The role requires CCNA certification and proven enterprise network experience, including firewall and wireless technologies.

You will be on a 24/7 standby rota outside normal hours, with opportunities to shape the force network and contribute to a resilient policing

Qualifications

• CCNA certification or equivalent is required.
• Proven experience in managing an enterprise network and routers/switches.
• Experience with firewall and wireless networks.
• Educated to HND level or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop, install and maintain the force network infrastructure.
• Perform routine configuration and deployment of network hardware and software.
• Propose and implement security solutions to protect the network.
• Serve as a point of contact on a 24/7 standby rota outside hours.

What You’ll Be Doing

• You will develop, implement and maintain the force network infrastructure and network operating systems to further improve the range of facilities available to the force users.
• You will carry out routine configuration, reconfiguration, installation and removal of network hardware and software.
• You will innovate, propose, implement and configure security solutions to ensure the protection of the force network.
• You will act as a single point of contact as part of a standby rota on a 24/7 basis and perform duties outside normal working hours.

The Must Haves

• You must have a Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification.
• You must have proven experience of managing an enterprise network, diagnostic tools, TCP/IP, enterprise firewalls, enterprise data switches and routers and enterprise level wireless network.
• You must be educated to HND level or equivalent qualification work related experience.
