Job summary

Derbyshire Constabulary is recruiting a Network Engineer to support the Force network from Force Headquarters in Ripley. The role focuses on delivering reliable, secure network solutions and maintaining network infrastructure to enable operational effectiveness.

You must hold a Cisco CCNA or equivalent and have proven experience managing an enterprise network, with skills in TCP/IP, firewalls, switches and wireless networking.

Qualifications

• CCNA or equivalent certification is required.
• Experience managing an enterprise network and using diagnostic tools.
• Educated to HND level or equivalent qualification or relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the force network infrastructure and network operating systems to improve facilities for force users.
• Configure, reconfigure, install and remove network hardware and software.
• Propose, implement and configure security solutions to protect the force network.
• Act as a single point of contact as part of a standby rota on a 24/7 basis and perform duties outside normal working hours.

What you’ll be doing:

• You will develop, implement and maintain the force network infrastructure and network operating systems to further improve the range of facilities available to the force users.
• You will carry out routine configuration, reconfiguration, installation and removal of network hardware and software.
• You will innovate, propose, implement and configure security solutions to ensure the protection of the force network.
• You will act as a single point of contact as part of a standby rota on a 24/7 basis and perform duties outside normal working hours.

The must haves:

• You must have a Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification.
• You must have proven experience of managing an enterprise network, diagnostic tools, TCP/IP, enterprise firewalls, enterprise data switches and routers and enterprise level wireless network.
• You must be educated to HND level or equivalent qualification work related experience.
