Job summary

HCLTech is seeking an experienced Network Consultant in London with a hybrid work model to design, implement, and optimize enterprise networks across data centers and WANs. You will manage routing protocols, VPNs, and datacenter technologies while coordinating with global teams to ensure high availability and security.

The role covers complex routing, datacenter operations, VPN design, incident management, and automation with scripting where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex enterprise networks.
• Manage and support routing protocols including: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, Static Routing, Route Redistribution.
• Analyze routing issues and optimize network convergence.
• Configure and troubleshoot ACLs, route maps, policy-based routing, and QoS.
• Support large-scale datacenter environments using Cisco Nexus 5K/7K/9K, Cisco ACI, VXLAN EVPN time.
• Perform datacenter migrations, refreshes, and transformation activities.
• Manage VLANs, VPCs, STP, RSTP, MST, Port Channels, and multicast technologies.
• Design and support Site-to-Site IPSEC VPN solutions, troubleshoot Phase 1/Phase 2, tunnels and encryption domains.
• Act as L3 escalation point for incidents; lead root-cause analysis and RCA.
• Drive network modernization and cloud connectivity projects; develop implementation plans and rollback strategies.
• Create SOPs, KT documents, and architecture diagrams; use Python, Ansible, Terraform for automation in some cases.

Role Summary

Routing & Switching

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex enterprise networks.
• Manage and support routing protocols including:
• BGP

Datacenter Network Operations

• Support large-scale datacenter environments utilizing:
• Cisco Nexus 5K/7K/9K
• Cisco ACI
• DCNM / NDFC
• VXLAN EVPN
• Spine-Leaf Architecture
• Perform datacenter migrations, refreshes, and transformation activities.
• Manage VLANs, VPC, STP, RSTP, MST, Port Channels, and multicast technologies.
• Provide expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 datacenter troubleshooting.

IPSEC & VPN Technologies

• Design and support Site-to-Site IPSEC VPN solutions.
• Troubleshoot:
• Phase 1 (IKE)
• Phase 2 (IPSEC)
• Tunnel establishment failures
• Encryption domain mismatches
• Routing over VPN tunnels
• Support:
• GRE over IPSEC
• DMVPN
• Extranet Connectivity
• B2B VPN Integrations
• Coordinate with firewall teams for VPN implementation and troubleshooting.

Incident & Problem Management

• Act as L3 escalation point for critical incidents and major outages.
• Lead RCA investigations and corrective actions.
• Provide technical leadership during Severity-1 incidents.
• Reduce recurring incidents through automation and process improvements.

Change & Project Delivery

• Evaluate and implement complex infrastructure changes.
• Participate in CAB reviews and risk assessments.
• Drive network modernization and cloud connectivity projects.
• Develop implementation plans, rollback strategies, and validation procedures.

Automation & Documentation

• Create SOPs, KT documents, and architecture diagrams.
• Leverage automation tools and scripting where applicable:
• Python
