Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a Cloud (Data Center) Site Service Engineer in London, onsite at client location. You will manage data center operations, respond to alarms, and coordinate with COLO/DC vendors and contractors to ensure service levels are met.

The role requires 3–5 years of data center experience, strong on-site support skills, and hands-on maintenance of IT infrastructure in a live facility.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in Data Center Services including servers, storage, backup and network devices.
• Ability to provide Smart Hands support at data center site and handle 24/7 requests.
• On-site management of COLO/DC contractors, sub-contractors and vendors per established procedures.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, asset tracking and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-site data center operations, including equipment and cabling.
• Coordinate with COLO/DC vendors and subcontractors to ensure SLA adherence.
• Respond to alarms and environmental reports, and perform maintenance scheduling.
• Maintain DC inventory, DCIM data, and change/incident tickets.

Role Summary

Cloud (Data Center) Site Service Engineer

Contractor will provide a Cloud (Data Center) Site Service Engineer, which will meet, but is not limited to the following:

• 3-5 years of experience on Data Center Services including managing servers, storage, backup and network devices
• Provide Smart Hands support at data center site including 24/7 emergency high touch requests
• Responsible for the on-site management of Colocation Data Centers COLO/DC contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures and local legislation
• Arranging periodic and ad hoc servicing/repair and Preventive Maintenance Schedules
• Reacting to alarms (BMS or Plant type alarms)
• Responding to reports that environmental conditions are out of bounds
• Adding/changing/removing device - ILO, remote managed power, and Asset Tracking
• Manage and Maintain the DC inventory and DCIM Tool
• Break Fix for IT Gear in Data Center
• Cable Mining and Inspection, device labeling, cable tracking and troubleshooting
• Capacity Management - Monitoring, Remediation, Planning and Maintenance
• DC Compliance controls - test, document, track execution, evidence repository, matrix, and SOX compliance process
• DC Visitor Access Process and record
• Environmental Infrastructure Alert monitoring of the DC Facility
• Maintain the DC Floor Space (Housekeeping, including dust removal, vacuuming, subfloor cleaning, combustible walk through, etc.)
• Infrastructure changes: interact with provider, schedule, CRQ, and execution
• Inside the IT Container - Audit and validation of environment to ensure it meets infrastructure requirements and data center standards (e.g. Capacity / Temp / Humidity / Air Conditioning)
• Intelligent PDU maintenance - firmware upgrades
• Inventory - Defining requirements for patch cords, power cables, consumables (label tags, cable ties, label tape, hook-loop ties, etc.)
• Monitoring and reporting – Alarms, Fire, Mechanical, Capacity (Power and Usage), and Environment – Humidity/ Temperature
• OE Assessment and Corrections
• Physical Server Installation Ops (Racking, Network Patching, Power, and Remote Management)
• Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for Data Center facility
• Management of the Data Center in the provision of infrastructure and inventory asset management
• Review COLO/DC contract compliance and ensure all SLAs are achieved
• Business interface with COLO/DC Management for day to day operational requirements
• Manage COLO/DC to resolve of any infrastructure engineering issues
