Job summary

HCLTech in London is seeking a Network Consultant to design, implement, and support large-scale enterprise networks. The role covers routing, datacenter operations, VPNs, and incident management in a hybrid client-site setting.

The candidate will drive network modernization, participate in CAB reviews, and produce SOPs and diagrams while leveraging Python/Ansible/Terraform automation where appropriate. Local UK presence is required for client engagements.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting complex enterprise networks.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols, datacenter concepts and VPN technologies.
• Ability to lead incident investigations and drive remediation actions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex enterprise networks including routing protocols.
• Manage DCNM/NDFC, VXLAN EVPN and datacenter migrations or transformations.
• Design and support Site-to-Site IPSEC VPN solutions and troubleshoot VPN issues.
• Act as L3 escalation point during major outages and lead RCA investigations.
• Drive change projects, CAB reviews, risk assessments and modernization efforts.
• Create SOPs and architecture diagrams; use automation tools where applicable.

Job Title: Network Consultant

Location: London, Uk (Hybrid mode at client location)

Role Summary:

Routing & Switching

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex enterprise networks.
• Manage and support routing protocols including:
• BGP
• OSPF
• EIGRP
• Static Routing
• Route Redistribution
• Analyze routing issues and optimize network convergence and performance.
• Configure and troubleshoot ACLs, route maps, policy-based routing, and QoS.

Datacenter Network Operations

• DCNM / NDFC
• VXLAN EVPN
• Perform datacenter migrations, refreshes, and transformation activities.
• Manage VLANs, VPC, STP, RSTP, MST, Port Channels, and multicast technologies.
• Provide expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 datacenter troubleshooting.

IPSEC & VPN Technologies

• Design and support Site-to-Site IPSEC VPN solutions.
• Troubleshoot:
• Phase 1 (IKE)
• Phase 2 (IPSEC)
• Routing over VPN tunnels
• Support:
• GRE over IPSEC
• DMVPN
• Extranet Connectivity
• B2B VPN Integrations
• Coordinate with firewall teams for VPN implementation and troubleshooting.

Incident & Problem Management

• Act as L3 escalation point for critical incidents and major outages.
• Lead RCA investigations and corrective actions.
• Provide technical leadership during Severity-1 incidents.
• Reduce recurring incidents through automation and process improvements.

Change & Project Delivery

• Evaluate and implement complex infrastructure changes.
• Participate in CAB reviews and risk assessments.
• Drive network modernization and cloud connectivity projects.
• Develop implementation plans, rollback strategies, and validation procedures.

Automation & Documentation

• Create SOPs, KT documents, and architecture diagrams.
• Leverage automation tools and scripting where applicable:
• Python

• Maintain network standards and governance documentation.
