Job summary

National Highways in the UK seeks a Construction & Maintenance Senior Advisor to join the Environmental Sustainability Division within Safety, Engineering and Standards. You will develop and implement decarbonisation policies and best practices, providing specialist technical advice and ensuring alignment with the Environmental and Sustainability Strategy.

This hybrid role is based from a UK office with travel to Birmingham for team meetings.

Qualifications

Chartered engineer or environmental specialist with a relevant professional institution.
Working towards a professional accreditation in the near future will be considered.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist subject matter expertise on carbon, particularly in construction and maintenance, innovation and decarbonisation pathways.
Provide technical assurance of carbon submissions and data, ensuring actions to achieve net-zero objectives.
Represent National Highways on net-zero related technical and standards committees, steering groups, conferences and workshops.
Develop technical solutions and communicate to stakeholders to support implementation and manage external expert and consultancy support.
Engage internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs and promote commitment to Net Zero objectives.
