Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Construction & Maintenance Senior Advisor to join our Environmental Sustainability Division within Safety, Engineering and Standards. You will develop and implement decarbonisation policies, standards and best practices across the business.

This hybrid role requires travel to Birmingham for meetings. You will provide specialist carbon guidance, ensure data assurance, engage stakeholders, and help align asset development, renewal and maintenance with our

Qualifications

Chartered engineer or environmental specialist with a relevant professional institution.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Excellent communication, presentations and numerical analysis, including Excel.
Experience delivering or managing projects.
Expertise in carbon reduction, climate change mitigation and resilience; sustainable asset management.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist subject matter expertise on carbon in construction and maintenance.
Provide technical assurance of carbon submissions and data.
Represent National Highways on net zero committees and external standards.
Develop technical solutions and manage external expert support.
Engage internal and external stakeholders to promote Net Zero objectives.
