Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Construction & Maintenance Senior Advisor to advance the Environmental Sustainability Division’s decarbonisation agenda. You will harmonise development, renewal and maintenance with the Environmental and Sustainability Strategy.

The role requires chartered status or equivalent expertise, strong collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to influence across many stakeholders. Hybrid work is available with occasional travel to Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Chartered engineer or environmental specialist with relevant professional recognition.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist expertise on carbon, decarbonisation and sustainability.
• Offer technical assurance on carbon submissions and data accuracy.
• Represent the organisation on net zero-related committees and external standards.
• Develop technical solutions and coordinate external consultancy as needed.
• Engage internal/external stakeholders to promote Net Zero objectives and best practices.
