Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Neonatal Ward Manager to lead a multi‑disciplinary neonatal team across intensive, high dependency, special, and transitional care. You will drive safe, compassionate care, ensure governance, and support staff development in a busy Level 3 NICU.

The role requires strategic leadership, excellent communication, and a proven track record in neonatal nursing with a passion for family‑centred care.

Qualifications

• Evidence of leadership in neonatal care and staff development.
• Experience in ward management, staffing rotas, and clinical governance.
• Commitment to family-centred, evidence-based care in a busy NICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible leadership to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure delivery of safe, effective patient care.
• Oversee staffing, rotas, appraisals, and professional development.
• Lead on clinical governance, audits and quality improvement.
• Maintain a safe ward environment and infection prevention standards.
• Manage ward budgets and equipment resources.
• Act as primary liaison between the ward, senior management and clinical services.
• Demonstrate strong decision-making and organisational skills.
