Job summary

The Leeds Neonatal Service delivers care to over 1400 babies per year, with units at LGI and SJUH and a total of 64 cots cross city. The Band 7 post requires leadership of about 170 WTE nurses and support staff, coordinating units across shifts and providing clinical and managerial leadership to ensure compassionate, safe and high-quality care.

The role operates within a 24/7 shift pattern and cross-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care and Neonatal Surgery.
Band 7 leadership and performance management experience.
Ability to co-ordinate units across shifts and manage nursing establishment.
Commitment to patient experience and patient safety.

Responsibilities

Co-ordinate the units on a shift-to-shift basis and manage the nursing establishment.
Oversee attendance, appraisals, mandatory training and competency assessments.
Provide assurance that standards are met and sustained for every patient.
Work cross city and fulfil a 24/7 shift system.
Deliver professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team.
Develop and maintain ward/department nursing practice with the Clinical Service Unit and Trust Business Plans.
Line manage the nursing team including performance, attendance and workforce planning.
