Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Clinical Practice Educator for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You will lead education, shape clinical practice, and support staff, students and learners to deliver safe, evidence-based care.

You will combine hands-on clinical work with teaching, mentor colleagues, drive service development, and ensure staff maintain high standards of neonatal care, family-centred practice, and continuous professional development across the unit.

Qualifications

• Essential: Registered Nurse with NMC registration (Part 1, 7, or 10).
• Essential: Specialist Neonatal Intensive Care Qualification.
• Essential: Teaching/Mentorship Qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead learning, development, and clinical competence across the neonatal service.
• Design, coordinate, and deliver induction, preceptorship, teaching programmes and study days.
• Support pre-registration and post-registration learners with supervision, assessment and feedback.
• Act as a clinical role model to promote best practice in neonatal care.
• Foster a positive culture of learning and staff development across the team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to align education with service needs.
