Job description

At Selwood Housing, we're passionate about creating neighbourhoods where our customers are proud to live. Every day, our teams work alongside customers, communities and partner organisations to ensure our neighbourhoods are safe, welcoming and thriving places to call home.

We're looking for a Neighbourhood Assistant to join our Neighbourhoods Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building positive relationships and making a tangible difference in local communities.

If you're customer-focused, organised and motivated by helping others, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

As a Neighbourhood Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of excellent services to our customers and communities. Working closely with Neighbourhood Managers, customers, and local partners, you'll help ensure our communities remain well managed, safe and supportive for everyone who lives there.

No two days are the same. From neighbourhood inspections and tenancy visits to supporting customers and resolving anti-social behaviour issues, you'll play an important role in delivering positive outcomes for our communities.

This is a predominantly field-based role, giving you the opportunity to spend time within our neighbourhoods, build relationships with customers and partner agencies, and see first-hand the difference your work makes.

What we’re looking for:

We're looking for someone who shares our values and is passionate about making a positive difference. You'll thrive on building relationships, supporting customers and helping to create neighbourhoods where people feel safe, supported and proud to live.

Customer Driven

You genuinely care about helping people and creating positive experiences. By listening, responding and taking action, you'll help customers feel supported, valued and proud of where they live.

Accountability

You take pride in doing what you say you'll do. You manage a varied workload effectively, follow through on commitments and approach every task with professionalism, fairness and attention to detail.

You're committed to learning, growing and continually improving. You embrace new ideas, build on your experiences and look for ways to make an even greater difference for our customers and communities.

Champion Communication

You know that great communication is at the heart of great communities. You build positive relationships, listen with empathy and work collaboratively with customers, colleagues and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

You’ll bring:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
  • Experience working within a housing organisation or a similar public sector environment.
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Good organisational and administration skills.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive environment where colleagues and customers are treated with fairness, dignity and respect.

For further information on the role, please review the job description attached to the advert.

The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks including verification of their Right to Work in the UK, a Basic DBS check and a DVLA licence check. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use are essential for this role.

  • Flexible working opportunities
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Ongoing training and development
  • A supportive team environment where your contribution really matters.
