Job summary

Kiota Recruitment seeks an experienced NEC Commercial & Contracts Specialist for a 6-9 month interim contract in Eastleigh, Hampshire. The role focuses on NEC3/NEC4 contracts from a subcontractor perspective, advising on risk, pricing and contract governance to protect margin and delivery.

You will collaborate with Commercial, Sales, Project Delivery, Procurement, Finance and Legal teams to translate complex project requirements into practical contracts and establish robust negotiation positions

Qualifications

• Extensive experience reviewing and negotiating NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
• Strong knowledge of NEC Engineering and Construction Subcontracts and Professional Service Subcontracts.
• Experience negotiating heavily amended NEC agreements from a subcontractor perspective.
• Experience with Tier 1 contractors or major civils subcontractors preferred.
• Experience in Water, Utilities, Infrastructure, Construction or related project environments.
• Ability to assess compensation events, variations, liability, and payment terms.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate NEC3/NEC4 contracts with focus on ESC and PSSC agreements.
• Identify commercial and contractual risks, advising on risk allocation and negotiation positions.
• Draft, review and negotiate Z clauses and other amendments.
• Assess compensation events, liabilities, payment terms, variations and exposure.
• Advise on pricing implications to protect margin and commercial position.
• Lead contract reviews on high-risk opportunities for senior stakeholders.
• Support tender responses and ensure terms align with commitments.
