Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Non-Destructive Testing Inspector for our Rosyth site on a full-time 18-month fixed-term contract. You will perform NDT on ship construction welds, verify compliance with engineering specs, and liaise with class societies and authorities. The role requires SC security clearance and PCN certifications.

Day-to-day duties include maintaining quality records, supporting investigations, and ensuring traceability across the inspection process in a regulated naval environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in shipbuilding, marine or other highly regulated environments.
• Understanding of quality control requirements and inspection processes.
• Experience inspecting completed work against engineering specs and standards.
• Familiarity with Measurement Management Systems and ISO 10012.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement with NDT knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Non-Destructive Testing and inspections on ship construction and welds.
• Perform acceptance inspections to verify compliance with specs and customer requirements.
• Coordinate inspection activities with classification societies and third parties.
• Maintain inspection records and quality documentation for traceability.
• Support investigations, audits and reporting while upholding safety and compliance.
