Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Non-Destructive Examination Engineer for HMNB Clyde Faslane. You will apply industry-leading inspection techniques to submarine maintenance and repair programmes, delivering quality assurance and supporting engineering decisions.

Day-to-day, you will conduct NDE tests, interpret results and produce technical reports, collaborating with engineering and operations to maintain safety and compliance. This role is on site and requires SC clearance.

Qualifications

• PCN Level II in Ultrasonics (3.1/3.2).
• Minimum one additional PCN Level II in PT/MT/VT or Radiography.
• PCN Level II Eddy Current – desirable.
• PCN Level II Advanced Radiation Safety – desirable.
• CSWIP 3.0 or CSWIP 3.1 – desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct non-destructive examinations per specs and standards.
• Perform radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual testing.
• Interpret results and produce accurate reports and documentation.
• Support maintenance and repair through defect identification and engineering assurance.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and quality teams to ensure compliance and improvement.
