Job summary

Chess Dynamics in Plymouth seeks a Systems Engineer to join the Naval Systems Team. You will contribute to development, integration and testing of high-performance targeting and surveillance equipment used on naval platforms, with responsibilities across mechanical, electrical and software domains.

You will work within multi-disciplinary teams, manage requirements, perform safety analyses and participate in design reviews, with hybrid/flexible working and 28 days annual leave.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or physical sciences.
• 1–3 years’ engineering experience; maritime/naval platforms desirable.
• Strong understanding of Systems engineering; INCOSE knowledge desirable.
• Multidisciplinary knowledge across mechanical, electrical and software.
• Proven communication skills.
• Proficient in report writing.
• Involvement in full development lifecycle of a product.
• Experience as a Systems Engineer.
• Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Visure or R4J).
• Work package management in JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Requirements capture and management.
• Design and definition of functional and physical systems architectures.
• Functional, detailed design and safety analysis.
• Contribute to programme risk mitigation.
• Development of Engineering Management Plans (Safety, Test & Acceptance, Technical Risk).
• Gather verification evidence for System Requirements.
• Create procurement specifications for sub-systems/components.
• Write test specifications and conduct design reviews.
• Develop Environmental Qualification Plans (EMC, Temp, Shock & Vibration).
• Produce technical reports.
