Babcock invites applications for a Marine Structures Undergraduate Summer Internship in Bristol. Over 12 weeks, you will join the SSE Structures Group to support maintaining and enhancing the UK submarine fleet.

Qualifications

• You must be entering your final year of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Ship & Offshore Structures, Marine Engineering/Marine Technology, Physics, Materials Science, or Mathematics.
• Must be able to achieve BPSS and Security Check (SC) clearance per GOV.UK requirements.
• Under national security rules this post may be occupied only by a sole UK national.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with SSE Structures Group on real-world naval engineering projects for the UK submarine fleet.
• Analyse submarine structure strength and evaluate platform structures for explosive shock survivability.
• Assist in design work for in-service modifications and impact assessments.
